The Re*connectt association, in partnership with the global organization WIDS of Stanford University, organized the first edition of the regional Women in Data Science (WiDS) event in Tunisia from March 17 to 18 in a hybrid format and on March 19 online.
Titled "Tunisian Women and DATA + AI Summit 2022," the event was intense and rich in science and technology, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data.
The main themes of this significant event included: Artificial Intelligence and its impact on society, future transformation, research topics, economic issues, AI in healthcare, AI in finance, AI in heritage and education, AI in media and social networks, AI in transportation, and Big Data in agriculture.
These days were undoubtedly a unique opportunity to discover and bring together brilliant Tunisian speakers with high expertise in various AI application domains in Tunisia and worldwide. These women displayed courtesy, a strong commitment, and unwavering loyalty to their country.
The event facilitated many rich and fruitful exchanges, with strong online and in-person participation. It also served as a genuine source of hope for both Tunisian women and their future in these technologies and for Tunisia’s knowledge economy.
The goal of these days was to inspire different generations of women to study and use artificial intelligence in their fields of work. Additionally, it aimed to promote reskilling and upskilling for employees or the unemployed in Data and AI, helping them move from vulnerability to employability. As affirmed by all participants, these goals appear to have been visibly achieved. We extend our deepest thanks for their trust.
Tunisian women are key players in Tunisia's knowledge and innovation economy. Their ability to reverse trends and take the right direction for their representation in science and technology is now a clear and undeniable fact.
