Young Tunisians invent a smart car powered by solar energy

A group of young Tunisian innovators active in smart cars has successfully created an eco-friendly car powered by solar energy. This three-wheeled vehicle was manufactured using purely Tunisian expertise, specifically in the town of Amiret Hajjaj, in the Monastir governorate.

The manufacturing process for the first model of this car took about six months and was supervised by the Tunisian promotion company "Infinite Mobility." This smart car weighs approximately 400 kg and is designed to transport people, with a seating capacity for three passengers, including the driver.

This project also aims at urban transportation over short distances, as demonstrated by Mahmoud Ben Omar, one of the young leaders of the project. He is an interior design engineer who has been passionate about automotive design since his school years. Although the automotive industry is one of the most complex sectors, the interior and exterior design and the structure of this car were developed in a contemporary and streamlined manner.

Indeed, this car represents a radical solution to the severe traffic congestion experienced in many Tunisian cities, mainly since most daily trips cover short distances not exceeding ten kilometers. It also provides a solution for many Tunisian families who cannot afford a new car due to the declining purchasing power of citizens. This new product is very economical, and its price is affordable. It can operate entirely without any fuel for all short daily trips, allowing families to save additional funds for other areas, namely health, education, postal services, and the environment.

M. Ali Bin Omar and M. Moez Jumaa, members of the "INFINITE" team, confirmed their intention to work on the manufacturing and exporting of this product. Still, they have not yet specified the public market's launch date or selling price. The project participants are preparing to showcase the first model at the Modern Transport Exhibition in Hamburg, Germany, next week, starting from October 11, 2021. They also hope that this vehicle will meet international standards and attract customer attention with its simple design so that INFINITE can quickly gain the trust and admiration of local and foreign customers due to the increased demand for this car.

It is worth noting that this project received the "Future Hamburg 2021" award from the city of Hamburg for the best project within the framework of the Smart City initiative.
